My name is Kris Albert, and I care about your teen.

I care Deeply About Your Child's Personal Success & Mental Health.

Teens are inundated by school and social pressures are a daily challenge. They are in a constant battle to be liked by their friends. They are stretched to the max trying to live up to the expectations of their teachers and their parents. Not to mention the pressures that come from society at large through the media and other social networks.

When teens hit their Junior and Senior years, the pressure builds.

I care deeply about your child's personal success and their mental health.  I am passionate about helping teens to navigate this high-pressured period of their lives. I am a seasoned master coach who has spent the past 12 years helping adults to create lives that meet their personal and professional values and needs through my coaching firm, Turning Points, LLC.

What's My experience with teens?

For 29 years I enjoyed a successful teaching career, working with children of all ages. The common thread in my work is to help people to be successful in whatever it is they put their minds to. One thing that saddens me most is to see people with great promise and potential, but who can't get out of their own way to be able to access their inherent gifts.

My work has taken me from teaching in Lancaster County public schools for 17 years (three of those as a middle and high school counselor), to 12 years as an Associate Professor of Music Education at West Chester University, and the past 12 years as a leadership coach. In education, I worked with students from age 12 into their early 20's.  I pride myself on creating safe spaces where students are able to take learning risks so they can grow to their fullest potential.  I still hear from students who share stories about what it was like for them to have me as a teacher.

Here are two recent unsolicited testimonials:

"I really struggled my first two years at college. My classes were tough, and I felt like no matter how hard I practiced or studied, I just wasn’t good enough. I can’t tell you how many times I questioned whether I should continue on the path I chose. But then, something really good happened. It was time to take Intro to Music Education with you. You were such a positive light, sharing wisdom with us. I finally found my place. With you I could trust and felt safe to be my true self, even when I didn’t understand something or failed. You believed in me, even when there were times I didn’t believe in myself. Thank you for being the person I needed to keep me on this career path. Thank you for your wealth of wisdom and positive light. You truly are an incredible teacher and person."

Yesterday, I had the privilege of catching up with one of my former professors from West Chester University. Even though she now insists I call her by her first name, she’ll always be Dr. Albert to me—a mentor who has profoundly shaped my life. This incredible woman is a true force in music education. She not only supervised hundreds of music student teachers but also directed a prestigious children’s choir, continued to perform regularly, and started her own mentoring and coaching business. A true renaissance woman, I couldn’t be more honored to now call her a friend. As we talked, I hung onto every word, watching her closely and trying to absorb her wisdom, just as I did years ago. She made an indelible mark on me as an educator, and I credit so much of my own success to her influence."

I am always humbled by their kind words, and it motivates me to keep being that person for others.

When it comes to your child, know that they will receive the most humanistic and supportive coaching possible; coaching that focuses on the whole person, their potential, and their ability to make meaning in their lives.

My Formal Credentials

In addition to my Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of Delaware,  I also earned my master's degree in counseling from Shippensburg University of PA, and my bachelor's degree in music education from Millersville Univesityh.

I earned a diploma and certification in coaching from the Newfield Network in Boulder, Colorado, and has earned certification to administer and interpret the Leadership Circle Profile. I am also a practitioner of Positive Intelligence (PQ)

Outside of my passion for helping individuals become their best selves, I am also passionate about issues related to justice and equity. I love to read and often has three or more books going at any given time. I enjoy bike-riding on the beautiful rail-trails in southeastern PA and can be found putting around on the golf course a couple of times a week in the summer months. I live with my partner, husband, and love of my life Doug, and with our ornery rescue cat, Watson. None of us is perfect. We just need a little love and compassion.

I have a current State Police (Child Abuse) Clearance and FBI Clearance on file. I'm happy to show them to you upon request.
