Dear Kristen,

You're receiving this email because you are one of my J.E.D.I* friends, and many of you have taken my Intro to Power, Privilege, and Leadership online program.  I want YOU to be among the first folks I invite to my upcoming J.E.D.I.* event -- MLK Conversation in Community 2022!

I'm excited to be able to offer this event for the second consecutive year. I invite you to come and experience what makes this event so special -- an intentionally created space, lovingly designed to support thoughtful speaking and deep listening around issues of justice and equity.  Experience what makes this so different than the opinionated discussions with contentious comebacks that we experience so often in our society today.

I truly believe that conversations like these --cloaked in compassion-- have the potential to profoundly change people's hearts and minds.  And I want you to be part of it.

Read on to learn more. I hope you will make time to join this important conversation.

P.S. Please share this event with your friends, families, and colleagues who would appreciate being a part of a transformational conversation such as this.

*J.E.D.I. stands for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

The 2nd Annual MLK Day Community Conversation

Monday, January 17, 2022

2:30PM-4:00PM ET

via Zoom

About this event

This 90-minute program (via Zoom) will honor the vision and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and will provide space for you to engage with others in transformative conversations around race and equity in these tumultuous days. Be inspired and supported in your intentions to contribute to creating a world free of racism.

This meeting will follow the model of The Circle Way which shifts the conversation from informal socializing or opinionated discussion to a receptive attitude of thoughtful speaking and deep listening.

Prior to the meeting, please download and read MLK's "Letter from Birmingham Jail." You can find it here: https://www.csuchico.edu/iege/_assets/documents/susi-letter-from-birmingham-jail.pdf

Through the posing of thoughtful questions, you'll be given the opportunity to learn, express, lament, dream, and envision a future free of racism. You will leave feeling inspired, encouraged, and empowered to create responsive and creative communities of transformation and regeneration within your spheres of influence, in service towards racial justice and equity in our communities and in our nation!

About "The Circle Way"

The event will be modeled using a practice often referred to as "community circles." "Circles started around the cook-fires of humanity's ancestors and has accompanied us every since. We remember this space. When we listen, we speak more thoughtfully. We lean in to shared purpose." (From "The Circle Way: Basic Guidelines for Calling a Circle"), www.thecircleway.net

Register to reserve your seat.  Seating is limited.

I look forward to an inspiring and hope-filled conversation. I hope you can join me.

We must move the needle toward justice and equity for all -- one conversation at a time!

Warmly,

Kris Albert
